General Information regarding the treatment of Egg Donation

In Spain , egg donation is regulated by Royal Decree 412/1996 and the laws 35/1988 and 14/2006. Donation is ANONYMOUS. Donors should be aged between 18 and 35 years old. The eggs from the donor come from a woman who has passed all the necessary and compulsory tests and examinations according to Spanish legislation. These are then fertilised with the semen of the patient’s partner. The embryos obtained will be inserted into the patient’s womb. The egg donation programme at FivMadrid is one of the most active in Spain . The technique of assisted reproduction with egg donation is statistically one of the most successful treatments of reproduction. The pregnancy rates (results) per cycle are close to 60%. After the third attempt, 90% of couples have fulfilled their dream of having a child.

The donor who passes the initial interview, should undergo a complete clinical and laboratory study as required by law and based on the most rigorous deontological ethics which we maintain here at FivMadrid, in such a way that any possible acquired or congenital diseases may be identified via the currently available state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques. During the selection process of the donor, a Kariotype (study of the chromosomes) is also carried out.

The waiting time for a donation at FivMadrid depends on the availability of a donor, although this does not usually exceed two months.

The patient who wishes to receive a donation (accepted until the age of 49 years old) will have to undergo a pharmacological preparation of the mucous of the womb (endometrium).

Generally speaking, we envisage that two visits will be required to Madrid : the first visit –a day- in order to evaluate the analyses, to organise the treatment, to clarify any doubts and to leave a semen sample for freezing; the second visit will be for the transference of the embryos (one day, two nights).

Our staff are available by telephone (Telf: 0034- 91 561 66 16) or email (consulta@fivmadrid.es) in order to clarify any doubts you may have, or information you may require or if you wish to make an appointment.
